It’s not easy to start a Cognac brand… We know the role the big players and the medium-sized family-run Cognac houses play – they are powerful. 10 years for a young Cognac brand such as ABK6 may seem like a blink of an eye when comparing it to Martell’s 300 years, but it’s actually a hell of an achievement!
We were invited to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Cognac ABK6, hosted by the wonderful Elodie Abécassis and her father Francis. They invited their favorite clients and international Cognac aficionados.
Needless to say, we were very honored to be among the guests. We had the chance to speak to the most experienced professionals in the industry, totally amazing.
Elodie and Francis Abécassis joined forces ten years ago, when Elodie was barely twenty years old. We’ve followed her career since the beginning of Cognac Expert, and would like to take this opportunity to say: we’re the biggest fans! We applaud Elodie’s vision, femininity, and entrepreneurship.
For us, Elodie and ABK6 stand for the rejuvenation of Cognac, made by young people for young people, a modern drink. Recently, she came up with the genius idea of creating a Cognac liqueur with local, single estate honey from the region. The result, ABK6 Honey Cognac Liqueur, is amazing – we had taste of it at the cocktail reception before dinner. Read our article about Abk6 Honey Liqueur.
The team held a lovely welcome speech, thanking everyone who supported their adventure. The atmosphere was extremely warm. And generous: The guests could taste other Cognacs by the Abécassis family estate, namely Cognac Leyrat VSOP Reserve and Cognac Reviseur VSOP.
Our personal favorite in terms of design was the Disco edition of an ABK6 vintage Cognac from 1985. Very sexy!
After a three-course dinner, great conversations, and plenty of wine and Cognac, we left behind our wishes on the birthday message board. It was easy:
