153 million Cognac bottles
In the year November 2009 – 2010, a total of 152.9 million bottles were sold, bringing the possibility of cognac sales once again reaching their pre-recession sales record of 159.3 million bottles firmly within sight. This record, reached in 2007, is once again firmly on course if the current trends continue, according to the President of the Bureau National Interprofessional Cognac (BNIC).
It appears that the growth is being driven by sales of the higher grades of cognac, with XO being up 37% and VSOP +29% and VS up 7.9%.
But with all the significant sales markets pushing full steam ahead, it seems as though 2011 could be a great year for the sales of cognac.
