Vinocamp: Have you heard of it? Vinocamp is an international and fast growing event series and network – this time in Cognac (and naturally, Cognac-Expert will be attending). Only the Saturday though.
So, this Vinocamp event takes place in Cognac, France, on the weekend of the 12th and 13th of January, 2013. Other locations included Savoie, Champagne, Loire, Paris, Bordeaux, Lisbon, Languedoc and Bourgogne.
So what actually is VinoCamp? Well, it’s all about getting leading web names in both spirits and wine worlds together in one place, mix it up with Web 2.0 and bloggers etc. – a great initiative. The “movement” also exists in other countries, our cousin Clemens is involved in the German Vinocamp. Because communication amongst these people is essential for the continuing success of the industry.
Participants will take an in-depth journey through the complete production of Cognac; from the vines and growing regions through to the production of eaux-de-vie and the final bottled product. As well as this, they can expect to head off the well-beaten track, discovering little known facts about wine making and the region in general.
The schedule for the weekend is as follows:
Friday Evening, January 11
Dinner (menu ‘VinoCamp’) at the Globe and Ice Garden Café in the Place Francois 1er Cognac. After dinner, Alexandre Lambert, mixologist at the Hotel Place Francois 1er, prepares Cognac cocktails. By the way: Alexandre and me (Max) always wanted to meet and he invited me several times. (I absolutely need to do this, damn!)
Saturday, January 12
09:00 – Welcome reception at the BNIC
Morning sessions include two series of workshops, followed by lunch. In the afternoon there are two further workshop series, followed by an evening session of Cognac tasting.
19:30 – Visit and dinner at a Cognac house (which one is yet to be announced)
Sunday January 13
10:00 – BNIC visit, followed by excursions to the distilleries and vineyards in both the Grande and Petite Champagne growing regions.
Lunch, and then the educational weekend ends in the afternoon.
Sounds great, eh? And we’ll report everything back to you after the event.
