Remy Martin XO Mysteries Gift Box

The red lacquered box contains a bottle of Rémy Martin XO Excellence Cognac, positioned side by side with a signature gift box of assorted chocolates from La Maison du Chocolat.

The “Mysteries of the Angels” gift box was created by Pierrette Trichet, Cellar Master of the House of Rémy Martin, and Gilles Marchal, Master Pastry Chef, Chocolatier and Creative Director at La Maison du Chocolat. United by their passion, long friendship, and by the pursuit of excellence, both have discovered many similarities in their respective arts over the years and decided to create the exclusive chocolates designed to be paired with Rémy Martin XO Excellence.

Whether it be milk chocolate ganache, dark chocolate ganache from Venezuela or a praline delicacy, the flavours of cocoa and chocolate blend well with the warm and autumnal flavours of Rémy Martin XO Excellence, which can be served neat or on the
rocks. In order to complete the tasting experience of this gift box, a Tasting Guide is provided for both the Cognac and the Chocolate, personally penned by Pierrette Trichet and Gilles Marchal.

The gift box will be available for £275; only 20 editions will be available at Harrods.

Now if only remy would offer and XO, that is more like Maison Surrenne that would be great. Buy the La Maison du Chocolat and the Maison Surrenne XO separately.
After extensive testing at MY expense, I can tell you that the current XO that Remy Martin offers (this includes the slightly better premire cru airport version) smells stunning, tastes good but NOT great.
This mainly from the oakiness from the 25-40 years (combined) it has been in the barrel. The XO also has a strong alchold kick, that one should not get from a Remy product! I have heard that ten years ago that the Remy XO brand/level had a much finer quality level.
Remy extra also slightly suffers from this, but is MUCH smoother and has the classic Remy taste.

Remy XO is best when it sits for about 30 min, before drinking. It is still a great cognac, but once you have tried thier high end louie tres u will understand just how much greatness they hold back from the market. Nothing I have tried come even close to it, but its price point is insulting to say the very least.

Try Maison Surrenne XO Single Vintage 1972 for a but less then the Remy XO.
You likely will never go back again……
