Whilst the quality and taste of a cognac is first and foremost what every producer is aiming for, we should never underestimate the power of how our favourite tipple is presented. And this is what the event, Design Spirit, is all about – the art of the glass bottle.
For the last three years, L’Insititut National du Design Packaging (INDP) has organized annual meetings in the city of Cognac, to which professionals in the industry are invited to discover more about the art of glass and luxury bottles for luxury drinks. Following in the footsteps of Hennessy, Remy Martin and Otard, this year it’s the turn of Meukow Cognac to host the event.
90 industry professionals have been invited to this Thursday’s event, where they’ll be treated to the expertise of Dutch glass artist, Vincent Breed. This specialist glass artist, who exhibits on a global scale, has just returned from an exhibition in New York. Having lived in France for several years, Breed is well versed in the love of cognac.
He will be joined by Richard Pascal, an expert in the production of glass himself, who will explain the methods used to allow the artist full creativity when creating a bottle, whilst keeping within the constrains of the packaging itself.
Project manager of Design Spirit, Sylvie Mirbeau, says that the objective of the event is to bring forth the importance of glass design in the world of luxury products. She said that, “Every year we increase the number of visiting industry professionals, and we are very pleased with the success so far.”
