So, 2015 has only just begun, and Martell has won the race to launch the first new Limited Edition Cognac of the year. And what a cognac it is. I (Max) have a very special relationship to Cordon Bleu, read my article about the Cordon Bleu Anniversary in Monaco.
The Martell Cordon Bleu ‘A Tribute to Martell’s 300 Year Anniversary’ Cognac has been released today (05 January 2015) in the UK, as part of the house’s tricentenary celebrations. It’s one of two limited editions being launched for the event (the other being Martell Premier Voyage).

The original Cordon Bleu, created by Edouard Martell, is the much-loved signature of the brand, unchanged since its inception in 1912. The Cordon Bleu Tribute to Martell’s 300 Year Anniversary is current Cellar Master, Benoit Fil’s, unique version of this legendary cognac.

The cognac is blend of over 100 eaux-de-vies from Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies and Fins Bois. Martell say of this new creation, “The gold-tinted copper coloured cognac has a sharp bouquet, and on tasting an explosion of flavours – orchard fruits, (plum and apple), roasted notes, (coffee, mocha, roasted almonds, vetiver), candied orange, cinnamon, honey and beeswax hits the palate. The rare round and mellow palate is enhanced by the eaux-de-vie from the Borderies terroir”.
The packaging too, is a delight – with the bottle, label and box harping back to the way the original Cordon Bleu was presented.

This limited edition bottle will cost £115 Sterling and is available from various high end cognac retailers in the UK.
