One of our readers from the Netherlands is asking for some advice on this old Martell Cognac bottle.

This is what the user tells us about the bottle “We received the bottle from good friends. But because the box looked so old we became very interested and wanted to know were it comes from. On internet we could not find anything. We started to imagine were the bottle came from. Even if the value of the bottle is high we do not want to sell. It is the thought behind what we love.”
My english is not so good. I’m sorry for this.”

Your bottle – a real rarity in modern times! Bottle contents stated on the label – this is the usual cognac VS (three stars). But how do you understand the value in the other – it is from another era! These bottles were produced in small quantities, as a special edition, in 1960-65 years. Very well preserved that a full set – box, cork and the bottle itself. Today the price may be 650 + + + If you decide to sell a bottle – I ask you to contact the site administration for feedback. I can agree with you! Best Regards, Andrey.

This is an old 3-star cognac from 1960. You can see it in one of the Martell printed ads from that year. 3-star cognac was the lowest grade sold by Martell at the time but this is in a special presentation case which is quite rare.
3-star VOP (Very Old Pale) was sold in a regular bottle also that year.
To verify condition of cork lay bottle down for 24 hours (but check it often) see if there is a leak or smell of cognac around the top.
In general the bottle should be stored standing up, normal room temperature and in a dark space (To avoid UV deterioration of box, label etc.)
Bottle should be laid down for 12 hours 1 or 2 times every year to keep cork from drying out. If it is always laying down alcohol will destroy the cork. If it is always standing up the cork will dry out.

    Hi Andrey,
Since the owner of this bottle says it is not for sale was your offer directed at me?
For 750 Euro you can have my bottle which is exactly same condition as bottle/box above and I can have it hand delivered to you in Germany. Are you interested?
