The oldest of all the big Cognac houses certainly represents the epitome of luxurious style. And the launch of their brand new Martell Chanteloup XXO Cognac certainly hits the spot.

The just-launched Martell Chanteloup XXO

Not content with simply bringing a new Cognac to market in this newest of age categories, the XXO was presented to the world with an exclusive party in Paris, France, and the creation of a matching bespoke trunk, the Martell XXO Masterpiece.

XXO quality Cognacs

With the creation of the Martell Chanteloup XXO there are now three such Cognacs in total on the market. Hot on the heels of the Hennessy XXO and the Monnet XXO, this brand new age category only came to being in 2018. To carry the denomination the youngest eau-de-vie within the blend must be aged for a minimum of 14 years. Find out more about why the category was introduced and what it means for the Cognac industry in our article What Does XXO Cognac Mean?.

So, what of the new Martell XXO? What’s it all about? Well, it’s an extra extra old quality, that we’ve already established, and one that been created from the masterful blending of no less than 450 different eaux-de-vies from the terroirs of Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Fins Bois, and Borderies. Martell says that this uber-quality Cognac celebrates “A supreme demonstration of the Martell art of blending, passed on through 300 years and nine generations of Cellar Masters.”

The launch party

Of course, one can’t expect a Cognac of this caliber to tiptoe onto the scene, oh no—it deserves the relevant amount of pomp and circumstance. And what better way to hit the scene than with a lavish launch party for 100 invited guests, each of whom were treated to a gala dinner at the Petit Palais. The tasting sensation of the Martell Chanteloup XXO Cognac was complemented with a carefully curated menu courtesy of the culinary skills of Michelin three-star chef, Guy Savoy.

The Cognac was presented in a truly theatrical fashion, with acrobat and choreographer, Yoann Bourgeois carrying out a trampoline performance that saw him climbing, falling, and bouncing back up a set of steps that led—eventually—to the unveiling of the Martell Chanteloup XXO Cognac and the accompanying Marcell Chanteloup XXO Masterpiece Trunk.

The Masterpiece Trunk

The trunk, presented at the same party, is a made-to-order presentation of the XXO that will be bespoke crafted in the colors of your choice with an engraved plaque. With curvaceous beauty, The Masterpiece Trunk has been designed to evoke thoughts of the wrought iron gates of Martell’s Chanteloup Cellar, and prices start from €50,000 ($55,000 approx.)
