Since 2006 the Cognac brassiere, La Goule, has released a new product to coincide with the Festival International de la Bande Dessinée d’Angoulême (the international festival of comics).
This year’s offering is to be a completely organic cognac beer, produced from a blend of their beer, also called La Goule, and organic Guy Pinard Cognac. At 8 per cent volume, if you sip one too many of this artisan beer then it’s likely to live up to its name the following morning, as the name translates into English as ‘the ghoul!’
A limited edition of only 5000 collector bottles will be produced and available to purchase from good wine shops in the Charente region of France, as well as from bars in Angouleme. La Goule Beer has a legion of faithful fans, and this cognac version is expected to be highly sought after by both collectors and La Goule drinkers alike. The 33cl bottles will sport a design on the label created specifically for this cognac beer.
Guy Pinard & Fils, producers of the organic cognac in La Goule, are delighted with the finished product. Along with being yet another way to enjoy eaux-de-vie, it also celebrates a revival of the popularity of drinking beer.
The Festival International de la Bande Dessinée d’Angoulême is taking place from January 26 – 29, 2012.
