Boutique Cognac house Kelt was awarded six silver awards as well as the “2015 Best Cognac Award” at the recent Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America (WSWA).

Kelt is a relatively new Cognac house, having been around for three decades, and is committed to using age old, traditional methods in the creation of their Cognac. Three of their products, the Kelt VSOP Cognac, Kelt XO Cognac and the Kelt Commodore Cognac were recognized. All won awards for appearance, aroma, and taste, but it was the Kelt Commodore that ran away with the major prize of the show – The Best Cognac of 2015.

April 2015 saw the WSWA international event take place in Orlando, Florida. The judging panel consisted of industry experts.

All of Kelt’s Cognacs are made from Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie, using only Ugni Blanc grapes. The production of all their Cognacs is unique: Every single one of their oak barrels is sent on a sea journey by boat around the world – a concept known as the “Tour du Monde”-Ocean Maturation. The movement of the waves makes the eau-de-vie swirl around in the barrel, allowing it to soak up more of the “rancio“, the woody flavors, from the oak.
