A reader from Portugal sent us this well-preserved Grand Empereur Grand Aigle Cognac, breath of history inclusive.

The Reader writes “The Grand Empereur – is one of lifes mysteries – I hate Cognacs with Napoleon’ on them, really difficult to be precise with information. But this one has a really interesting story: I bought something else from the owner (a man in his 70s) and he offered me a drink and we chatted and he said he had an old bottle. He said it was his Grandmothers and she died long ago.
It was in an old chest of drawers, still full of her clothes and still smells (3 years on) of an amazing old perfume and is like a new bottle – still wrapped in celeophane and the box was sealed when i first saw it – he thinks she hid it there from his Grandfather who was a notorious drinker. Sadly he tore the top of the box opening it to show me, but only minor damage.
I have no idea of the age or quality of this bottle and would appreciate any information and would consider offers for it.”

(If you also have a Cognac bottle you would like to sell, or you need information about age or value – send us photos and information, just submit: Use this form – but please be aware: if you don’t follow the steps precisely, we will not publish your bottle.)
