If you’re planning a trip to Hawaii in the near future, then be sure to check out the bar at the Trump International Hotel, Waikiki Beach Walk. Here, for a cool $800 US dollars, you could treat yourself to a cocktail entitled ‘The Elements of Extravagance,’ if you so wish.
With a generous measure of 140 year old Antoine Hardy Perfection Cognac, combined with Grand Marnier Cuvée Speciale Cent Cinquantenaire, Krug Grand Cuvée MV champagne, organic Wilelaiki Blossom Honey and the juice of fresh oranges and lemons, this is certainly a cocktail that’s deserving of its name.
Add to that the fact that it’s presented in a martini glass half rimmed with 23 carat gold flakes, and you can begin to see where your $800 is being spent.
And it’s the cognac that makes this cocktail so special. A bottle of Antoine Hardy Perfection retails at around $8000 US dollars. Bottled in the 1870s and presented in a Daum crystal decanter, only 300 of these rarities were produced. Each bottle is numbered and comes with certification to ensure its authenticity.
Antoine Hardy Perfection hints at rich oak, chocolate and coffee. And this cocktail mixes that pleasure with the taste of the Tahitian vanilla bean, along with the other ingredients.
So, what do you think? Is mixing this amazing cognac into a cocktail a good idea? Or is it sacrilege to a product that’s so rare? We hand the debate over to you…
