The latest offering from Martell Cognac is the XO Exclusive Architect Edition, a cognac encased in a masterpiece designed by top French architect, Christian de Portzamparc. We reported about Martell’s new edition already some days ago, as one of the first websites in the western world – it was sort of  a scoop.

The presentation of this XO cognac is all about delicacy, beautiful lines and the combination of light and eaux-de-vie.  Without a right angle in sight, the bottle itself is gently formed and presented in an amber prism – a setting that hints at the amber nectar inside but gives nothing away as to the discovery.

Christian de Portzamparc said of his creation, “I wanted to make the liquid into a work of art, and for the Martell XO bottle to become a faintly perceptible treasure set in a beautiful jewel-box casing.”

Mr de Portzamparc was the first French architect ever to be awarded the prestigious Pritzker prize in 1994.

This collaboration between Martell XO Exclusive Architect Edition Cognac and a renowned architect is the second from the house; the first having been with Paul Andreu in 2009.

Only 2,500 bottles of this limited edition will be produced.  And at first the only place this will go on sale will be at Hong Kong International Airport this month.   Then in December it will be available in Taiwan and Macau, before being available to purchase in Kuala Lumpur next year.

As of now, no figure has been released as to the cost of this limited edition bottle.
