This is a rather standard Croizet Napoleon grade cognac from the 1970/1980 era. The 1805 date only refers to the date the Croizet firm was established. The cognac was probably cask stored for 10 years to obtain the Napoleon grade.
We are talking about cognac distilled in 1960/1970 and bottled in 1970/1980. Value is around $100-$150.
I think you saw a completely different cognac for $8,000. Croizet is a very prestigious cognac house. Their very well known “Cuvee Leonie” 1858 sold for $157,000.
