Here comes nothing less but another Complete Erte Courvoisier Cognac Collection. This one is located in Massachusetts, USA.

The Reader tells us that “My grandma has been a lifelong Erte collector and has had these bottles for over twenty years. At one point she displayed the seven of the eight in the display case that we are selling with the bottles, but in recent years the bottles have been safely stowed in her closet. They have never been opened and still have plastic seals around cork area. It is finally time to pass on these beautiful pieces to another collector who appreciates them!”

(If you also have a Cognac bottle you would like to sell, or you need information about age or value – send us photos and information, just submit: Use this form – but please be aware: if you don’t follow the steps precisely, we will not publish your bottle.)

I would like to start with an offer of $6,500 for the beautiful collection of Erte Courvosier limited edition set. Your set is very impressive. I am in the Fine Art business and have collected Erte’s pieces of artwork. This would be my first purchase of the Erte Courvosier collection.

  2. Avatar

Are you still interested in selling your Erte set? Its been almost a week since I posted my offer however there has been no feedback from the seller.

Sorry about the late response, I’ve been away and unable to check this site! $6500 is a little lower than we were hoping to get. Would you be willing to come up to $7500?

  4. Avatar

Thank you for your response. I understand your position and will bring my offer up to $7250. I hope my offer is close enough to what you think is beneficial to you. It looks like a beautiful set and would make a great addition to my collection. I am not sure which party covers the costs on shipping, handling and insurance. If we had come to terms I had thought of flying from California to Massachusetts to pick it up but my schedule will not allow time. I look forward to hear from you and hope my offer is satisfactory.

    Hi Edward,

We are willing to accept $7250 for the eight bottles. In regard to shipping, we would have to ask that you pay. I can take the bottles to USPS or UPS or FedEx, get an estimate for the cost and let you know what the total would be. Does that sound good to you?

  6. Avatar

Just a word of advice: Do not use the US Postal Service to ship alcohol.
Neither USPS, UPS or FedeX accept alcohol shipments so in all cases the shipment has to go at your own risk but UPS and FedeX will not make a big deal out of it if the shipment is damaged and will try to return it to you in the best condition possible and apologize for the damage.
On the other hand USPS will destroy the shipment and a postal inspector will call you and threaten you with legal pursuit for illegally shipping alcohol. That is the difference between a private company interested in serving its customers and a Federal agency drunk with its own power.
This advice is from personal experience.

Thanks for the advice Michael! Somehow that information does not surprise me…

I think FedEx is better way to go and are less expensive

Thank you for accepting my offer. I appreciate Michaels comments regarding the shipping. It can be an issue when USPS is involved due to the antiquated laws regarding transportation across statelines. The bottles are fairly secure in their boxes but additional packaging will keep any damages from occuring. When I ship Fine Art glass, I use a double box technique that I can send you a link to see an example. Its not much more expensive but its worth the additioal costs. You also mentioned a display case that will be included with the sale. Could you send me a photo. I would love to show this collection in its best presentation. Thank you

    Hi Edward,

The thing with the display case is that it contains several large sheets of glass in addition to the bulky frame…I’m not sure how feasible it is to ship it to California without breakage. If you would like to see a photo of the case, I can send one to you tomorrow as today I am out of town.

  11. Avatar

I thought it may be difficult toship considering most display cases do require substantial glass. However if its not an inconvenience I would like to see a photo so I could perhaps have just a portion shipped or none at all. I have a person who builds my display cases for my gallery. I would have him recrate your design. Thankyou. Also have you gotten any prices on the shipping. I would like to get this transaction completed as soon as possible.

  12. Avatar

    Hi Edward,

I think a moderator has to send me your contact info so I can send you the photo of the display case. I should have a shipping estimate by tomorrow afternoon.

  13. Avatar

    Hi Edward,

Based on estimates given to us by UPS and Fedex, we’re going to have to charge you $100 for the shipment of the eight bottles. Hopefully you’ve gotten the photos of the display case by now, although you can see how bulky/difficult shipment of that would be. I don’t think it would make much sense to dismantle the case and try to ship parts, so unfortunately we’ll have to exclude that from the offer. Please let me know if you are willing to accept the price of shipping so we can finalize the transaction.

    Hello T
thank you for the photos you sent showing the case. I agree we should first get the bottles paid for and shipped. I am not sure how the financial transaction is completed. I assume it must go through Sebastian. Please let me know.
I realize the display case would be difficult for you to worry about shipping but I would love to get it. I would arrange a service to come and pick up from your location and handle the boxing and shipping. I will pay all the expenses. Hopefully you have no reason to keep it and my offers is a benefit to you. Thank you for everything.

    Hi Edward,

Just a few things you should know regarding the display case. First, it is located in the basement of a brownstone in the city of Boston, so hiring a delivery/shipment service will probably be expensive, as getting the case out will be a pain. Second, unfortunately we have to ask an additional $225 for the sale of the display case. When we agreed on the price of $7250, my understanding was that you only wanted the eight bottles, as you never mentioned the case beforehand. The wording of my offer in the comments section validates this. If you are still interested in buying the case, please let me know. Our offer of $7250 for just the eight bottles still stands.

  16. Avatar

Can we work this out by splitting the assitional fee for the case to $115.00. That make the price for the bottles and the display case $7,340 and $100.00 to ship the bottles. I would pay the complete fee of having a highly reputable freight forwarding service pick up, box and ship the display case. When I read the description of your offered sale, I believed the wording said the the display case was to be sold with the bottles. Ater providing me the photos of the case I realized why, since the case was designed for the Erte bottles exclusively. I understand having to make arrangements to be at the location where the case is stored is not convenient. I hope the additional offered fee will compensate for that. I would not expect to have it expedited for shipping like the bottles. But a time that is more convenient to your schedule. I look forward to making this transaction a benefit for both of us

  17. Avatar

We will accept the additional fee of $115 for the display case. We now have a more accurate estimate for the shipment of the bottles, which will be about $135 instead of $100. With the addition of the display case the shipment price will be a little higher than $135. Would it be possible to have the freight company pick up and ship the bottles as well, or if you would prefer for us to ship them (which is no problem)? As soon as we get your confirmation, we will go through with the sale and shipment.

  18. Avatar

Thank you for accepting my comprise. I thought the shipping fee you initially provided me was low. I find FedEx a good carrier for fragile items. This should go by air instead of ground service so there is less time during transit for damages. If your qoute of $135 is for ground service, please utilize their most reasonable priced air service. As I said, the shipping fee will be my responsibility. So now we need to move forward so I get the funds to you. Again thank you.

  19. Avatar

Thanks for your patience and understanding. I will make the initial payment to cognac expert later today and hopefully we can ship these bottles out by the end of the week!
