It’s been a while since we reported about a new product, so we’re delighted to be able to tell you about the latest release from Camus: Rarissimes by Camus.
And what a collection to tell you about… This wonderful, distinct vintage collection of three cognacs that, according to Camus, ‘are an invitation to journey back in time. The three different products are as follows…
Cognac Petite Champagne 1970
The harvest of 1970 was an exceptional one, with a cold and rainy winter being followed by a hot, dry summer. This provided the perfect growing conditions and grapes that exuded some top quality wine. This 1970 vintage from the Petite Champagne regions provides a subtle, floral bouquet that gives a silky, slightly spicy taste on the palate. Hints of wood come to mind as the taste evolves, with a smooth tropical fruit finish to round it off.
Only 588 bottles of the Rarissimes by Camus Petite Champagne 1970 Cognac have been produced.
Cognac Grande Champagne 1980
Distilled in 2,500 litre stills, this is an extremely rare vintage thanks to the tiny harvest of 1980. Hence this is an extremely limited edition of only 247 bottles. The cold weather and devastating frosts during the harvest meant that the small amount of fruit that was harvested has created a complex eaux-de-vie that has to be experienced to be believed.
An intense cognac, with an amazing bouquet that’s released on swirling, then delights you with hints of vanilla, oak and pure density on the palate.
Cognac Fins Bois 1988
1988 saw a harvest that took place after a late flowering period, and this Fins Bois cognac provides a floral, fresh, lemony taste so typical of this growing area. With hints of blackcurrant, redcurrant, spices and wild honey, this limited edition of only 838 bottles will certainly be a wonderful addition to any cognac collection.
We don’t yet have the prices for the Rarissimes by Camus Cognac collection, but will let you know just as soon as we do.
