Ah! A new cognac bottle on the horizon: First launched in 1927, Remy Martin VSOP Mature Cask Finish will see a relaunch in 2012, with a new design, a new look. This VSOP will replace the former, normal VSOP in Europe. Rémy Martin is working the European taste with this product – and also: They are preparing for the new “age of ages”, as XO Cognac will get a new minimum age, it will be lifted from 6 to 10 years.

The price by the way, will remain the same: Between 32 and 39 Euros. So the costs will not be higher for the consumer, but for the cognac house – as they will actually put older eaux-de-vie into their blend.

This VSOP is slightly different from the normal VSOP, it has, as the name says, a different cask finish procedure.

The eaux-de-vie in this blend are from Grande and Petite Champagne – of course Fine Champagne, as Remy Martin is the owner of the biggest Fine Champagne stock in the world.

Remy Martin VSOP Mature Cask Finish Cognac is coming

The finishing process: The last year after maturity, there happens a final blending, completed in a 20-year old Limousin oak barrel – a high quality cask. The Remy Martin VSOP Mature Cask Finish Cognac will have fruity tones and notes, elegant and round. The VSOP can be consumed neat, on ice or in cocktails.
