- Your Cognac Bottle? June 28, 2011 in Your Cognac Bottle? 7
Unbelievable, how this Cordon Bleu from Martell reappeared.
Here is the message from our reader: “The bottle has been In my room on top of a book case my whole life, and I’m 28. It made it all the way through me going to Highschool and College undetected. How, I have no idea. One day when I was cleaning out my old room I decided I’d see what was in the red box with the gold lid, I assumed it was some type of christmas decoration that my mother wanted to put up but keep out of the attick. What I found was a surprise to say the least.”
(If you also have a Cognac bottle you would like to sell, or need information on – send us photos and information, just submit: Use this form – but please be aware: if you don’t follow the steps precisely, we will not publish your bottle.)
The reader could not see a label on the back, but didnt pick up the bottle out of its place. He is not sure that anyone has ever picked it up. The bottle is unopened, it was purchased new roughly 1980 by the reader’s father. It is in its original box and orginal outer boxes.

this would be well above $200 .. for this cordon bleu one would pay at least $400. I have the same bottle and it’s such a beauty
This is an interesting bottle. The cognac was the idea of Edouard Martell in 1912 and the eaux de vie is largely from the Borderies, a cru noted for its nutty and toffee like flavours and would have been aged in oak for substantially longer than the same cognac is today. However it is unlikely that it would have been more than about 25 years old so to make it more expensive, some was put into crystal decanters. Todays value of the modern version is about £85 in the shops. We don’t know when this was made but it is a reasonable guess that it was produced around mid 1920′s Value of this bottle is likely to be around £150-200. DB
The retail value is 400.00 to 600.00 Dollars
I would pay 500.00 for it if interested please just answer here in the comments or contact cognac expert for my info.
Kind regards, James
I just picked up a bottle of Martell Cordon Bleu in Baccarat Crystal Detainer w/tax label and seal intact. I also was able to pick up a bottle of Hennessey Paradis, and Louis XIII Remy Martin. All three bottles are dated to the 70′s or 80′s.
I am really interested in your bottle, if it hasn’t sold yet, please write me an email – NikiforowAndrei@msn.com
