- Your Cognac Bottle? July 17, 2010 in Your Cognac Bottle? 5
You’ve got a Cognac bottle? Do not know what it’s worth or where it’s coming from? Today we received a VVSSP Fine Champagne (Petite and Grande Champagne)
The bottle is in a good condition: Pierre Chabanneau Gold Seal V.V.S.S.P Fine Champagne with a label along the bottom reading “For Personnal Use.” Also: Embossed glass on the back that reads “FEDERAL LAW FORBIDS SALE OR RE-USE OF THIS BOTTLE.”
Bottle is sealed and seemingly in very good condition. Our reader writes:
“I’m familiar with the Chabanneau vintage Cognac’s but this one I must admit I am clueless about, not even sure what the second “S” in V.V.S.S.P. stands for…”
Would there be a reader who is familiar with this bottle? Any ideas of origin, value or similar? As always: Feel free to comment.

Thanks Stefan, it seems to be a mystery without answer. My guess was the Cognac was bottled for a specific restaurant but without serial number or something of that sort I’m afraid I’ll never know.
If you would like to sale let me know E-mail handymanesq@verizon.net or call 240-423-6890
I have two empty bottles of Pierre Chabanneau & Co – Grande fine Champagne (de Reserve) 1820 and one labeled 1865. Are these worth anything?
Thanks.
Tom
Where can I buy Gold Seal Champgene???????

I own a similair bottle, except for the fact my bottle is a blue VVSO, 35 years old cognac, bottled around 1940. Chabanneau is today part of Camus, founded in 1830, having produced vintage cognac going back to 1811. A similair Blue Seal VVSOP was sold on auction in 2008 for € 184. As for the exact meaning of VVSSP: that I cannot answer. That it seems likely this cognac has been produced prior to 1900 is perhaps a small comfort.
