The latest figures revealed by the BNIC show that sales of cognac continue to remain healthy. In the year running to late November 2011, the sales value was €2.033 billion Euros, up 10.3 per cent on the previous year’s trading. The actual volume rose 6.4 per cent over the same period, to 162.8 million bottles.
All grades of cognac are showing significant rises, with VS at 3.5 per cent and 71.9 million bottles, VSOP up 6.6 per cent and 67.1 million bottle, an XO and above up a massive 16.2 per cent and 23.8 million bottles.
Geographically, sales to the Far East continue to rise the fastest, with an increase of 14.6 per cent, Europe is up 4.3 per cent, whilst North America shows a slight decrease of 0.2 per cent.
